J. Robert Keena is a partner with the firm and chair of the Litigation Practice Group. He is also a member of the Employment Law Practice Group, where he assists businesses of all sizes with a variety of employment and related litigation issues, including:

• Employment agreements
• Internal investigations
• Termination / Discipline documentation
• Employee handbooks and related documentation
• Employment litigation

Robert provides thoughtful counsel and proactive representation to his clients regarding best practices in the employment arena, focused on helping to prevent disputes through the development of comprehensive workplace policies and procedures. His services range from creating employment agreements and guidelines to the creation of common procedures for responding to employee issues. He also conducts internal investigations related to discrimination and harassment complaints.

When necessary, he aggressively defends his client's interests in employment disputes; he has successfully defended employers with overtime and commission claims, Federal Age Discrimination claims, and numerous other employer-employee lawsuits. 

Robert is licensed to practice law in the State of Minnesota, Federal District Court of Minnesota and Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.  He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Hennepin County Bar Association, and is an approved continuing education instructor. 

In 2008, Minnesota Law & Politics recognized him as a "Super Lawyer" and a member of the top 5% of attorneys in Minnesota.  He was also named to the "Rising Star" list for multiple years running. 

Robert obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from Golden Gate University School of Law, and graduated with the school’s criminal law award for academic excellence.  He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.
