Gerald has significant experience litigating a wide variety of matters.  Throughout his career, Gerald has demonstrated leadership, tenacity and diligence in the successful investigation and litigation of fraud and anticompetitive conduct.  He first demonstrated those skills by tracing funds through forty bank accounts to uncover rumored kickbacks to a public pension fund director, thereby compelling a multi-million dollar settlement.  Gerald has also successfully pursued fraud concerning real estate, healthcare billing, drug pricing, and pharmaceutical marketing.  His current practice focuses on representing whistleblowers under federal and state False Claims Acts ("FCA"), as well as other fraud recovery actions.

Previously, Gerald worked at Boies, Schiller & Flexner, LLP ("BSF") where his practice focused on complex commercial litigation, primarily FCA actions against companies in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.  Gerald was involved in the FCA action against Medco that settled for $162 million, as well as several other substantial FCA cases that remain under seal.  His FCA matters have involved off-label marketing, misbranding, kickbacks, drug pricing, and healthcare provider billing practices.  While at BSF, his colleagues sought him for his intellectual curiosity, out-of-the-box thinking, ability to identify potential claims, and ability to articulate an opponent's unstated assumptions and effectively undercut their arguments.  In addition to his FCA work, while at BSF Gerald also: represented a residential mortgage lender in a civil RICO and negligence action; defended a medical products company against antitrust claims; pursued claims for misappropriation of software against a major manufacturer of computer hardware and related products; represented real estate investors to enforce their contractual and property rights at a major ski resort; sought the buyout of an oppressed minority shareholder; defended against an FTC consumer redress action; and assisted a healthcare client with legislative matters.

Previously, Gerald practiced in boutique litigation firms in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota where he honed a proactive approach to litigation that leverages procedural and first-mover advantages to produce successful results as quickly and efficiently as possible.  During those years, Gerald did significant work in eminent domain, land use, employment, and a wide variety of complex commercial matters, including a successful multi-million dollar legal malpractice action against Minnesota and California attorneys.

He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the United States District Courts for Minnesota and New Jersey, and the State Courts of Minnesota, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia.  Gerald is a member of the Federal Bar Association and Taxpayers Against Fraud ("TAF").   He received his B.A., cum laude, in International Relations, with minors in Economics and Philosophy from the University of Minnesota, and received his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.
